The CLIA Process

CLIA is a process of transforming the social role of libraries by engaging them to support their communities’ interests and needs. Changing our perspective of libraries, from service providers to community anchors, is a process that takes time and a sustained practice. For this reason we call participants to “practice” CLIA, to remember that becoming generative community anchors requires intentional and sustained practices.
CLIA is NOT prescriptive, but a methodology that is centered on community, its issues and needs, and the shared concerns and goals that drive the community’s collective action for social transformation.
CLIA affirms the philosophy of “teach to fish.”
