When will the new building be finished?

The Archives and Special Collections Building is expected to open in Fall 2027.

What kind of spaces will be open to the public in the new building?

The facility will house all or most of the collections from the University Library’s special collections, including the University Archives, the Rare Book & Manuscript Library, and the Illinois History and Lincoln Collections units and serve as a hub for service programs in the special collections. There will be an exhibition area, reading room, seminar rooms, and instructional rooms.
